Quality Control
Installing sub-standard wires and cables is extremely dangerous. The vast majority of fires in buildings are caused by wiring faults, and even when faults are detected in time, re-installation or repair is very costly.
In most countries of the world, there is a standards body which issues mandatory wire specifications for local use. We in Jamaica have our own Bureau of Standards.
Caribbean Cable Company (CCC) has achieved the Bureau of Standards Jamaica (BSJ) approval for its products. Having the BSJ mark on our cables is your assurance that:
- Raw material meets local and international standards.
- Random product samples are continuously tested to ensure compliance with set standards.
- Independent BSJ engineers periodically inspect our plant and monitor production and associated quality control procedures so as to ensure that established standards are consistently maintained.
- Traceability of materials is achievable through every stage of production by proper record keeping.
- All testing and measuring equipment are regularly checked and calibrated.
Beside the BSJ inspection and testing, we carry out our checks and counter checks to guarantee the integrity of our products. We do not believe it is good enough to achieve just the minimum standards. We strive to maintain world class standards. Through our contacts with the world’s suppliers of raw materials, we carry out factory experiments and research so as to determine what is best for our particular environment.

Health And Safety
The correct use of electric cables does not give rise to any risk to health. We do, however, maintain a continuing watch on world developments in the field of cables to ensure that so far as is reasonably practicable, our products are so designed and constructed as to be safe and without risk to health.
It is important that the type of cable ordered is suitable for the intended usage. You, therefore, need to have your cable requirements specified by certified professionals.
Cables produced by CCC should be installed by, or under the supervision of competent personnel in accordance with good engineering practice, established codes of practices, statutory requirements, the Mining Regulations as applicable and, where appropriate, in accordance with any instructions specifically advised by CCC.
The melting, heating, burning or welding of cables can give rise to certain health and safety risks. During the process of cable joining, terminating, and the disposal of scraps by all reasonable care must be taken to avoid undue concentrations of corrosive and/or toxic fumes. These fumes can arise from the heating of plastic and sheathing compounds, from lead sheaths, and from fluxes, solders and plumbing metals used in joining operations.
